The ElectroSafety Campaign was launched by energy specialist Schneider Electric in cooperation with the Energy Commission and The Electrical and Electronics Association of Malaysia so that people will become more aware of electrical safety in their homes.
According to Soo Pow Leong, the Malaysian county president of Schneider Electric, the goal of the campaign is to educate the public regarding the importance of proper electrical protection and safety products to reduce electric shock injuries. Electrical accidents have become rather common with 13 accidents reported and seven fatalities in 2015. In 2014, 63 cases were investigated by the Energy Commission; 27 were fatal and 36 were non-fatal.
Many people are not aware of the importance of circuit breakers in residential and commercial buildings. People are exposed to the dangers of electrocution when there is no proper implementation of electrical protection and safety products. In most cases, accidents are caused by damaged insulations, overheating of cables and damp conditions.
The ElectroSafety Campaign hopes to educate the public on simple safety precautions and the importance of investing on proper electrical fittings not only for the prevention of accidents but electrically-related fires, fatalities and injuries.
According to Soo, modern lifestyle today requires more appliances in the home. For example, a household has a microwave, 2 water heaters and washing machine that runs through electricity. The risks of electrical accidents are higher than before particularly if the homeowner does not implement proper safety measures. In order to reduce the potential for electrical accidents, it is necessary to invest in the right equipment and ensure that it is properly installed by expert electricians.
In the next few months, Schneider Electric will be launching the Electrician Programme as an extension of the campaign for the recruitment and training of electricians so that they will be updated with new products and regulations.
In order to ensure that your home is safe and free from electrical hazards, your best option is the electrician in Brisbane that has decades of experience in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. Remember that your home is usually your biggest investment and it is only proper to ensure that it is safe from electrical fires and accidents.
