While more and more cities are discouraging residents from throwing just about anything in dumpsters, people still continue to throw recyclable waste products particularly electronic gadgets. It is very easy to call Earthwise Hauling to handle all the junk to avoid compromising the health of people, animals and the environment.
Recycling is a big problem for cities like Utah. If you will take a tour of the Waste Management Material Recovery Facility in West Jordan, you will see the crowded conveyor belts and mountains of junk. The facility receives waste from cities across Wasatch Front but a quarter of the materials received by the facility are contaminated.
Even if the materials are recyclable, they have not been cleaned. They receive lawn mowers, water heaters, desks and filing cabinets but some materials are not really recyclable. While the list for recyclable materials has not changed over the years, the facility has to deal with rising costs and cut back on the materials that residents throw in their bins.
Utah is not the only state that faces problems with recycling. Rates of contamination are consistent with nationwide estimates. Residential collectors tell residents that they can place anything on the bins to consolidate collection so they put in all stuff including those that cannot be recycled.
More and more waste is shipped by the United States overseas particularly China giving the American people the impression that their waste is being handled properly. For years, China received the US recyclables even if they are contaminated but in 2017, when trash started to pile up, they shut their doors. Since there were fewer buyers, the resale value of recyclables started to decline.
Confusion also started from how local officials informed residents on the changes to recycling programs. Recently, it was announced in Murray that mixed paper is no longer accepted which left residents wondering what they could still throw away.
E-waste is anything that you can plug in a wall outlet or runs through battery power. E-waste is bad for the environment so you can’t just throw them away. E-waste can be hauled away by state registered electronic waste handler Earthwise Hauling so that they will be processed and recycled.
