He was able to show how much the city will be able to save if their fluorescent lights are changed into LED lighting. The figures he used were from the Westar Energy bill of the city. Westar disclosed to Perez that around one-fourth of the total electric bill is from lighting.

The presentation made by Perez showed that the city will be able to save more than $37,000 within 7 and a half years if they are to use LED lights. This time period is also the average lifespan of an LED light.
