Saigon Still The Number One Tourist Spot In Vietnam

Published by:

For the first three months of 2019, Ho Chi Minh City turns out to be the number one local destination for international travellers visiting the country of Vietnam. The city in the south, which holds rooftop bar in Saigon and the best accommodations, welcomed its highest number of international visitors for the first quarter of this year. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 10 per cent in the arrivals as Ho Chi Minh City serviced 2.25 million global tourists.

Based on the figures released by the tourism department of the city, Ho Chi Minh City is responsible for bringing in 50 per cent of the total number of international tourists during the first three months of 2019. According to the report by the General Statistics Office, the number of international travellers who came to Vietnam increased by seven per cent for the first quarter when looking at the year-on-year data with the total reaching 4.5 million.

Out of all the foreign travellers visiting Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest groups came from the countries of United States, Japan, China and South Korea. These are the biggest contributors to the tourism revenue of the city for the first quarter which has amounted to $1.71 billion.

Kayak, a travel portal based in Singapore, has already declared that Ho Chi Minh City will finally make it to the top 10 tourist spots for foreign travellers for this year. It was already given recognition by the Travelsupermarket website for being one of the 15 tourist cities globally with the fastest growth with estimates that the city will welcome 10.2 million international tourists in 2025.

Two years ago, Price of Travel which is a database for cost when travelling, placed Saigon on the third spot for the list of the cheapest cities in the world. Travelers will only need $18.33 daily to survive including meals, accommodation, beer from rooftop bar in Saigon, entrance fee to tourist attractions and public transportation. Another survey was conducted by General Statistics Office in partnership with the Tourism Department of the city revealing that foreign travellers spend an average of $145 per day during a 5-day stay in Ho Chi Minh.

Bangkok Welcomes Hello Kitty Carnival For A Limited Time

Tourists and locals staying at a 4 star hotel in Bangkok until the end of May will be able to see Hello Kitty and her adorable friends as they visit the capital city for a limited time only. This is the first time that a pop-up carnival dedicated to the Sanrio characters will be visiting Thailand. Guests will have the chance the join in games, take photos with the characters and enjoy a number of attractions that are designed specifically for the die-hard fans of the legendary character.

The carnival which is called Hello Kitty Go Around originally came from Hong Kong. It was opened in the middle of the previous month and is located inside one of the popular shopping centres in Bangkok, the Donki Mall Thonglor.

Sanrio is one of the most popular companies in Japan which coincidentally owns the brand Hello Kitty. It has given the rights for AHM Entertainment, a local event company in the country, to operate the carnival. The carnival will be accessible to the public at the said venue until the end of the month of May. After which, the management will be announcing its permanent venue.

During the news conference for the opening of the carnival, Yuko Tsuji who is the director of Sanrio said that Hello Kitty is known to be one of the most loved characters by the Thais for the past four decades. Adults entering the carnival will have to pay 350 baht while children need to pay 280 baht each. There is no need to despair for those staying fans at a 4 star hotel in Bangkok after May because Don Quijote, a discount retailer from Japan, has already announced the opening of a dedicated Hello Kitty photo studio and restaurant inside the mall before the year ends.

March Is A Good Month For Cruising In Cairns

Published by:

The cruising industry is doing well as Cairns welcomes four different cruise ships at the beginning of the month of March. Tourists who are traveling by air need to hire shuttle transfer while those who arrive as part of a cruise will be able to stay the night onboard. March is considered to be the busiest month for the city because this is when majority of the cruise ships are arriving.

As the city welcomes four cruise ships, about 4,300 passengers are expected on shore. This number also includes the crew who will be stopping at the Cruise Liner Terminal. The very first cruise ship to arrive was the Azamara Quest. It made a stop on the port after its previous stop in Townsville. The ship has over a thousand passengers on board and they stayed on the city’s port for one night.

Richard Stevenson, the operations manager of Ports North, said that they have already confirmed eight cruise ships that will be landing in Cairns for the whole month of March. It is uncommon though for them to entertain a lot of them within a span of one week.

He added that the sight of the cruise ships along brings a lot of excitement to the port and the locals who are eager to watch what is happening near the waterfront. After the Azamara Quest, the next cruise ship expected to land is the Europa with only a day in between arrivals. Europa came from the Hamilton Island carrying around 600 passengers including its crew. They will stay for one night before heading to Papua New Guinea.

As Europa leaves, Insignia docks after its trip from Brisbane along with 1,040 people onboard – passengers and crew. The last one to arrive in the back-to-back arrivals of the four cruise ships is the Amsterdam. The ship came from Townsville with nearly 2,000 passengers on board for their day trip. Mr. Stevensen said that processing these passengers alone will take up most of the staff’s time.

Arriving on cruise ship is a different experience from flying and taking the shuttle transfer which is preferred by many travelers especially those who have limited time for their holidays.

Tourism Development Plan Intended For Eastern Economic Corridor

Published by:

Board of Trade of Thailand’s chairman, Kalin Sarasin, said during the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking that the number of tourists that will visit Thailand is expected to increase by 1.5 times by 2021. One proof to this is that for the first eight months of 2018, Thailand has recorded an increase of 9.9 percent in the number of international travellers entering the country reaching 25.89 million. Some stayed in Bangkok and some tried the hotel with Italian grill in Rayong while others settled for the quite beaches of Phuket.

According to the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking, the economic growth of the country for 2018 has jumped from 4.4 to 4.8 which are quite better than the previous assumption which can be between 4.3 and 4.8 per cent. The committee also said that the export growth of the country has been adjusted from 8 to 10 per cent to become 7 to 10 per cent.

On the other hand, there are those that are worried about the implications of the trade war between United States and China because it is expected to get worse as the months go by. Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking knows that it will have an impact on the economy of the country, its trade and investment for 2019 regardless if direct or indirect.

Kalin said that there is already a tourism development plan in place for EEC. The main focus will be on the strength of the province and its unique attributes which is expected to lift the tourism of Thailand to the international scene.

For the province of Chon Buri, the tourist destinations (both modern and traditional) are going to be further developed in order to offer adventures that are natural and cultural. Majority of these places will be suitable for travellers vacationing with the entire family or with a group of friends or co-workers.

EEC will not only become the business hub of the east but it will also showcase other parts of the country with the availability of a hotel with Italian grill in Rayong and the accommodations in Pattaya which will soon be accessible by high-speed train.
