World Leaders Expressed Grief On Germanwings Flight 9252 Crash

Published by:

Europe was greatly shocked at what had befallen Germanwings Flight 9252 when it crashed last Tuesday in France. Many world leaders have expressed their grief and their shock at the unfortunate incident that killed all 150 passengers. 72 passengers were Germans, 35 were Spaniards, 2 Americans, 2 Australians and 2 Britons.

French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy have all visited the crash site in France and expressed their sorrow for the families of the unfortunate victims.
In a statement made by the German Chancellor, she had shared her thoughts and condolences as well as the entire German government to those who have lost their lives in the crash. She described the suffering of the families of the victims as ‘immense.’

Spain, on the other hand, expressed their grief by announcing a three days of national mourning which begins this Wednesday. Prime Minister Rajoy said in a press conference that they are lamenting the incident like everyone else is doing. President Hollande turned to Twitter to show his support for the family of the victims and addressed the incident as a tragedy on France’s soil.

Due to the incident, King Felipe of Spain had to cut his state visit to France.

The leaders of the countries involved were not the only ones who expressed their sadness and grief following the air crash. U.S. President Barack Obama had even called both Rajoy and Merkel to give his condolences on behalf of the United States of America.

Germany and Spain are considered as one the U.S.’ biggest allies and Obama wanted them to know that they stand in solidarity even during this unfortunate event.

Obama added that it was heartbreaking because most of the victims were also children and some were even infants.
About sixteen high school students from Germany were killed in the crash. A Swedish football team was also scheduled to be on board on Flight 9252. Luckily, all 29 team members were divided into three separate flights, sparing them from the same fate that killed 150 passengers.

British President David Cameron also pledged their support.

Local Residents Offended As Park Gets New Fence

Published by:

We have learned many things from Marvin of Health Landscapes Fence Fitters during our recent meet-up with him. According to him, before any improvement projects can be launched, it is always important that they first undergo effective planning. Carefully laying out all the structural plans, ideas and considering all the things that need to be considered can go a long way especially when the improvement project involves a public property.

If improvement projects are not effectively planned, then it could spawn grave results and such was the case in the City of Oxford after an eight-foot fence was erected at the Risinghurst Recreation Ground located at the Ridgeway Road.
The local residents were not happy about the fence, mostly because it had cut off a large portion of the park.

One of these residents, Steven Newman, father of two children, had even complained to the Oxford City Council after he had discovered the fence set up on the small park. According to Steven, it was still unbelievable to see the unfamiliar fence standing on the already small park.

He expressed his disappointment at the city council when he saw the erected fence. Steven also said that the next time they build a fence; they should make sure it is on the boundary.

Most of the local residents now believe that the park is not being managed properly by the city council and that the contractors have not conducted a proper job.

The city council had already announced last month that they will be replacing the old fences of the park. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Instead, they had built new fences on the boundary and had kept the old ones.
There is also an issue on how the public was not consulted about the fencing plans.

Marvin commented on the issue and said that whenever people plan to build fences, they should consult all of the people involved as they are also more likely to be directly and indirectly affected by the fences. Through effective consultation, they would be able to discuss issues regarding the fencing and think of ideas that would benefit every party.

Housing Prices Slowdown Last April

Published by:

The price among houses in the United Kingdom has experienced the slowest growth in the last nine years this April. This means that other housing refinements and furniture like bathroom furniture, living room fixture as well as bedroom furniture will also be affected. The prices among London housing projects have weakened amid the unfounded fears of an election victory for Labour.

The Office for the National Statistics disclosed to the public that housing prices rose at a yearly rate of about 5.5 percent last April in contrast to a 9.6 percent last March. This reported slowdown was the biggest since the April 2006 statistics.

The cause of the weakening in housing prices

The main cause of the overall weakening of housing prices in the United Kingdom is the significant weakening of the property prices in London. The prices of houses in London grew slower than the average of United Kingdom for the first time ever since 2006. According to market analysts, both buyers and sellers in greater London were concerned before the May election regarding the Labour proposals for the mansion tax.

The Office of National Statistics said that the figures for the month of April continued the weakening of prices trend. This trend started last September 2014 when the inflation in housing prices was as much as 12 percent. The overall housing prices increased slowly in the United Kingdom aside from Northern Ireland. The annual growth in Northern Ireland remained to strengthen as it rose from 7.5 percent to 8.8 percent.

In England, the yearly growth slowed down from 9.4 percent in March to only 5.8 percent in April. In Wales however, the price rose by 1.3 percent from a growth of 5.7 percent. Scotland experienced the greatest slowdown where the growth was only at 2.2 percent compared to a 14.6 percent last March.

The Office of National Statistics said that the United Kingdom housing market has showed signs of slowing down April of this year. In its report, the ONS did not mention anything about the election in the analysis of the figures. However, it said a positive news for the entire UK economy would support the house prices.
