Forget About The Bombings; Play Pokemon Go In Thailand

Published by:

The Thai Junta has plans of using Pokemon Go in a desperate attempt to boost tourism after the deadly bombings that targeted popular tourist destinations. Tourism is a large contributor to the Thailand economy that is why the government is making all efforts to present the Southeast Asian nation as a safe destination for holidaymakers.

According to the Bangkok Post, the junta will collaborate with the developers of Pokemon Go, the global game phenomenon to plant Pokemon Gyms and Pokemon Stops at popular tourist destinations in order to encourage visitors. If the number of rare Pokemons is increased in several tourist destinations in Thailand, it will boost tourism since everybody wants their chance to catch the elusive characters. There is no word yet whether the locations that were hit by the bombings will be used for the promotions of Pokemon Go. Some of the popular spots in Thailand that were hit by the blasts are Hua Hin and Phuket.

If you are not convinced that Pokemon Go can boost the tourism of a country, consider McDonald’s Japan as an example. Since 2014, the fast food giant has been posting losses until it struck a deal with the developer of the game app, Niantic to turn the 3,000 restaurants into Pokemon Gyms. People can eat their Happy Meals during hard-fought Pokemon battles on their smartphones.

According to the Bangkok Post, local communications firm True Corporation has completed a deal with Niantic to select the locations for the Pokemon Stops and Gyms to provide an additional incentive to tourists to visit the area.

The bombing attacks in Thailand have killed 4 people and injured 20, most of them foreigners. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the bombing but it certainly hurt the nation’s tourism. Hopefully, with Pokemon Go, foreign tourists will be more confident to visit Thailand.

Cambodia Builds A Garment Training Institute

Beginning this month the construction of a training institute especially made for Cambodian garment workers is now being realized. The training institute will be called Cambodian Garment Training Institute (CGTI). This is being build within the Special Economic Zone of Pnom Penh and its main mandate is to train the local workers so that they will be equipped with the necessary skills to fill the middle management positions of the clothing factories that are situated across the country. The said institution will offer different vocational training programs like specialized pattern making courses and design. The cost of enrollment will of course be paid by the employers of the workers.

As the clothing industry in Cambodia is set to expand and boom in the upcoming years, the government sees this move as beneficial to the overall economic growth of the country as well as an avenue to alleviate the conditions of the Cambodian people. These workers will be equipped with the necessary skills in making fashionable wears, top garments, t-shirts, shorts, movie costumes and so much more.

During the first year of operation, there will be around 1,600 places that will be available. The institute also announced that it will offer 12 month courses to at least 240 young university hopefuls who are eager to build a career in the clothing industry. The student applicants are privileged to choose from a spectrum of specializations including quality control, engineering as well as garment design.

The institute is being set up by the GMAC or the Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia and is aided financially by the French Agency for Development (AFD). The said institute will help boost the retail industry’s competitiveness and create plenty of jobs for the Cambodian people.

The learning institution is set to train the Cambodian workers in the different sections of the clothing industry from pattern making to operating sewing machines to becoming technical specialists. The president of GMAC said that the institute will help increase the productivity of the skilled workers and at the same time reduce the dependence on foreign workers for the key technical positions and management roles in various garment companies in the country.

Port For Cruise Ships Coming Soon In Phuket

Published by:

Due to the high number of tourist visiting Phuket, many visitors are finding it easier to rent a luxury pool villa in Phuket rather than go their without proper booking. Soon, the number will rise again as Cabinet Members of Thailand has approved the recent proposal to develop the Phuket Deep Seaport in order to it to receive larger types of cruise ships. Along with this proposal is the plan of constructing another port of similar function in either Samui or Krabi.

After the meeting by the Cabinet, Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd revealed that the ministers are in favor of the proposal to construct additional ports for yachts and cruise ships in Thailand. This plan is to help connect Thailand with the surrounding countries as well as to make the Kingdom a regional hub when it comes to sea transport.

A data from the Marine Department showed that Thailand has 11 existing yacht marinas located in the Andaman Sea as well as the Gulf of Thailand. A total of 2000 boats can be accommodated in both marinas. Despite the large number, these ports can only accommodate yachts that are small in size.

The department also revealed that they are looking into 33 more areas where yacht marinas can be constructed and to help narrow down the choices they are asking local residents on their personal view regarding the places that are on the list.

Major General Sansern also shared that when it comes to cruise ships, only a few ports can accommodate those large types of vessels and these are Phuket Deep Seaport, Bangkok Port and Laem Chabang Port. Despite the facts that they can handle large cruise ships, these ports are also full with cargo ships.

With these data in mind, the Cabinet decided to approve the development of the Phuket Deep Seaport to be able to accommodate more tourists as well as cruise ships. This is ideal since Thailand is located in the international cruise route.
The spokesperson also disclosed the plan of constructing new cruise port that will be located in either Krabi or Samui – it will still be decided which of the two is the best location. A decision is to made before September ends.

Real Estate Boom For Thailand Is Evident

Published by:

The state of the real estate industry in Thailand seems to be growing beautifully due to the arrival of numerous property investors who have all set their eyes on investing in condominiums and hotels as well as the influx of property buyers purchasing executive homes in many different places in Thailand like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin and Phuket. The real estate boom had also been greatly influenced by rising activities in both trade and investment.

It can also be noticed that there has been an increased growth in the value of the cross-border trade with the neighboring countries of Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Laos which has amounted to an outstanding 900 billion baht last 2014 and it is also expected to grow beyond 1 trillion this year. This is all because of Thailand’s efforts in setting up special economic zones (SEZs) which was aimed at promoting trade in the border.

Even the locals themselves are doing pretty well. In fact, they now have more income as well as a more urbanized lifestyle which is all thanks to the government’s promotions. Most of these locals would often look for rooms to rent because they can save more money with that. But there are also a number of locals who are looking for condominiums to invest in them.

Furthermore, well-known sellers of condominiums would now normally sell 40-50 units a month while lesser known sellers would still be making lots of money with 20 units a month. It can also be said that there is an exceptional demand for condominium units in Chiang Rai, Udon Thani, Pisanulok and Hat Yai.

Condominiums have become the primary weapon and flagship that will penetrate the market in local provinces. This is all because of the changing demands of the consumers in these areas as well as their lifestyle.

The demand would often come from various groups in each of these provinces. The biggest demands would often come from university students, a primary consumer target, as well as the investors in Laos.

All in all, there seems to be a bright future ahead for the real estate industry in Thailand.
