Binary Fountain Survey Reveals How Important Online Reviews Are For Healthcare Providers

Managing one’s reputation online is an important endeavour for businesses. For customers, those good King Kong reviews help them decide on who they’ll be turning to for products and services. The healthcare industry is not exempt, according to a recent survey conducted by Binary Fountain.

The online reputation management firm surveyed US citizens, and found that about half (51%) of them admit to sharing their healthcare experiences online, which is a massive increase from the prior year. In particular, millennials (70%), which the survey classifies as people born between 1981-1996, are more open to sharing their healthcare experiences with other people on the internet.

On top of that, the research also showed why good King Kong reviews matter, even for healthcare professionals. 70% of the respondents stated that online ratings and reviews matter to them, influencing their choice of healthcare professionals. Additionally, more than 40% of the respondents state that they researched doctors and practitioners online, even if other healthcare professionals refer them.

The survey also asked how much stock people into online reviews, and noted that 97% of people in the 24-34 year old range believe that online comments and reviews are reliable, while all of the 18-24 year old respondents asked felt the same.

The report emphasized how important it is for healthcare providers to pay attention to their presence on the internet, as the younger generations look for and select their hospitals and providers via the internet.

On top of that, they survey even asked what consumers look for in doctors, with the primary answers being friendliness and compassion, the ability to answer questions, and the thoroughness of their examinations.

Additionally, the survey listed down the issues that people don’t like to come across when dealing with healthcare professionals; wait times in the office, cost and payment issues, wait times for results, as well as scheduling appointments.

Earlier in 2019, Healthcare Dive worked together with Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, in order to help healthcare providers understand and improve the experience they provide to their patients. They concluded that the word that’s most common with positive Yelp reviews for healthcare providers is the word ‘friendly’.
